Back to Blogger Civilization

I can't believe it's been over a week since I've posted. I can't believe I only had about three minutes to look at all of your blogs while I was gone last week. But, I'm so glad that I'm back in my normal routine and can get back in touch with you all!

Last week in Vegas was eye-opening. Hubby and I went to The Shot Show to promote his online business, and it was a success. We met tons of contacts and he has more work lined up to do than he can shake a stick at. Of course, most of that doesn't lead to income right this very second, so I'm hoping he can keep his head up and trudge through the work that's been created. Hopefully very quickly everything will fall into place and he can rest easier.

My inbox has so many emails in it that I need to follow up on. My etsy shop is soooo far back on whatever burner can possibly be behind me that I have no idea when my graphics will be finished. I think I will have to move forward with just posting pics of what I am ready to sell, and then make the etsy site pretty at a later date. I promise a sneak peek of my little creations will be available by tomorrow!

Have a great Monday and I look forward to catching up on your posts!

Super Mom Series by Lyndsay Johnson

Here we are at another Monday! Are you excited? This Monday is a little different for me. Please allow me to explain why.

There is a lovely blogger and graphic designer named Lyndsay Johnson who has a wonderful series she put together last year called The Super Mom Series. (She actually designed the graphics for my blog!) And, today she is featuring me as a Super Mom. (Which really cracked me up since I feel that I'm quite far from 'super.') But, I accepted her award nonetheless and would love for you to pop over to her blog and check it out.

Once you get through reading her series check out her regular stuff, too. She is a great writer, has a beautiful family and always shares gorgeous pics.

Happy Monday to you all, and I hope it is the start of an amazing week!

More traveling...

I'm quite the home-body. I like being at my house. Regardless of what I'm doing I just like being there. Perhaps because it is comfortable.

You might remember that we went to Santa Fe the week after Christmas. It was a wonderful trip! But, now we are preparing for another trip. To Las Vegas. I really can't stand that city except that my mom lives there now so I'll get to see her. Hubby and I are going to a convention to promote his business. It will be a week of walking, walking, walking, networking and more networking, definitely not a vacation. And that's ok. I'm happy to help him grow his business. I just wish we could do more of that from home.... I think he feels the same right now, too.

Hubby is so stressed with all that he needs to accomplish with his business. I'm stressing about all the things I'm not able to accomplish right now because he needs my help. My etsy shop is on hold, I'm behind on laundry, the floors at home need a good cleaning, and those freakin' baseboards.... Why are they standing out so vibrantly right now? I know it's been about two years since I've scrubbed them, but really.... I've been able to tune them out for two years and now they want to pop out at me?

Geeze....

And I can't get to my sewing machine because its blocked by Hubby's gear and preparations for the convention. I haven't said anything about it since I don't want to add to his stress level. But, I'm longing to sit down and sew. I don't even care what I make.

And then there's the dang baseboards again....

The day of gift card shopping...

Yesterday was so much fun! While Hubby and I waited for the oil to be changed and the tires rotated on my car we had one super healthy breakfast at a nearby IHOP, then went to Pier 1 to spend a gift card. Here are some of the items we picked up...

There are a total of 10 of the snow men for our Christmas tree next year, and the rooster salt n' pepper shaker will go to my mom and step-dad who have quite a rooster collection. The other items are just miscellaneous things we found ourselves in need of... juice container, rug for by the garage door, a stand for a small painting.

Later we met up with my Sis at Northpark Mall in Dallas. Parking was total chaos. Just as my sister called me to tell me that she was leaving since she had been driving for almost a half hour and couldn't find a spot and all the valet options were full, we both found parking spots around Dillard's. Perhaps that was the less desirable end of the mall. Needless to say we were both ecstatic that we could continue on with our plans!

Before we had completely worn ourselves out from trying on jeans, shirts and dressier work garments here is a pic of us sporting some seriously sequined berets while perusing Metropark....

It was definitely a Kodak moment. Please pardon my super shiny face... that always happens to me. Blotting papers anyone?

I found some amazing t-shirts at Metropark that I can't wait to sport. (Is it completely obvious that I adore things with birds on them?) I just need the right long sleeve shirt to layer these with until the weather warms up....

And here is an awesome shirt Hubby found that The Rambler will definitely appreciate....

Here are a couple of cutesy finds from Anthropologie that I can't wait to wear...

It was an amazingly fun day!

Gifts Galore!

I am so excited about tomorrow. (Oddly enough I keep forgetting that it's Friday!) I'm getting the oil changed in my car and my tires rotated! I've been driving around with my 'maintenance required' light on for about three weeks. But really, let me tell you why I'm really excited, tomorrow Hubby & I will be hitting my favorite mall in Dallas... North Park! We both have some gift cards from Christmas to spend and frankly my pocket already has a hole burned through it!

I can't wait to hit up Banana Republic, Nordstrom, Metropark, Pier 1, West Elm and maybe even Target. (Ok, so not all of those stores are at North Park, but we may have to make some other stops, too...)

My sister is supposed to meet up with us, which means it should be a fun afternoon of goofing around and making gift card purchases. Perhaps Hubby will wear his 'stache just to freak out my sis....

Top 10 Things to Accomplish in 2010

Are you someone who declares resolutions each year? I think at one time I used to do that. But I would be willing to bet you that I dropped the ball on whatever I was so resolute to change. So, I stopped making resolutions a few years back.

This year I am compelled to try again.

For some reason I have a great feeling about this year, and I know some of you are feeling the same way. So, here is my top 10 list of things that I plan on accomplishing throughout this year:

10. Open that Etsy shop (because I'm almost there anyway)
9. Revamp my blog (didn't I already start a new application called WordPress, uh... yes... another thing I procrastinated on in 2009)
8. Become more philanthropic
7. Re-purpose at least 10 items in my closet that I'm thinking of ditching
6. Read one book each month (I just finished the Christmas List by Richard Paul Evans... so moving I actually cried in several parts... )
5. Get back into a Bible study, either through my church or on my own
4. Make 100 preemie caps for donations to area hospitals through my church
3. Get reconnected with at least two long-lost family members and stay in regular contact
2. To see my sister at least once every month... no exceptions
1. To stop being such a nag to Hubby and The Little Guy (in other words, learn to let go a bit more... )

So there you have it. I'll check back when our next New Year rolls around and see how I've done. I know this list isn't completely comprehensive, nor is it an outstanding one, but I think it's a good start. Who know, perhaps I'll add to it as the year progresses!

What are your hopes for the new year?

Back from the Holidays

Today is the first day I've looked at blogs since Sunday! I'm so far behind on my reading and posting! But, we had a wonderful time in Santa Fe with my family.

Hubby, The Little Guy and me went snowboarding for the first time. I must brag that Hubby was a complete natural on the slopes, and The Little Guy did an amazing job, too. I spent more time on my butt and getting up to try again and again. By the end of our second snowboarding class I was ready to quit and relax somewhere. But, it was a ton of fun! I'm so glad I tried it out. The Little Guy ended up tweaking his knee a bit on the second day of hitting the slopes and had to be sledded down by the ski patrol. They wrapped up his knee and we kept it iced down for the rest of the day, and thankfully he was walking normally after that.

It was so wonderful spending time with everyone. Here we are in action before we had to head to the airport.

And here is Axel enjoying his new monkey from his Granny.

Stay tuned for news on my new Etsy shop...
