Episode 49: Always Forward, Never Straight

Sometimes just keeping that forward momentum is all that's needed to reach a goal. The path doesn't always have to be straight or never veered from, just keep moving. In the words of one of my favorite characters in Finding Nemo, Dory sang, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming" as she continued on for Wallaby Way.

I've been working to keep the momentum going, too, when it comes to completing projects. After recording the last episode I went back over some yarn I'd pulled from my stash and a pattern that was recently gifted to me. Having patterns and yarn set aside together and ready to go helps me not to procrastinate. I just need to get better at pulling the tools I'll need at the same time.

The Christmas holiday came and went without the completion of a few gifts that I'd hoped to give, but the holiday was more enjoyable without the pressure of rushing to finish. Such Is Life

As you have probably felt, time has been flying right by. We're now almost a month into a new year and I haven't made the time to record a new episode or work on some of the projects that I was so excited about prior to the end of 2014. Such is life.

So much has happened in the last month. My family and I had a wonderful Christmas, my teenage son, my husband and I have bonded on new levels and we all seem to be understanding each other better, my husband and I have become activists in our small town, Yoga has taken on new meanings for me, I've reconnected with one of my best friends from middle school and, sadly, I've lost a friend to cancer while, my body feels better than it ever has before. What a guilty feeling that can bring. Such is life.

While I don't know for sure what the future holds for me, I'm mentally (and bloggily) vowing to hold myself to higher standards. I'm going to strive to listen to and cherish my body even more, to live as mentally and physically healthily as possible and to cherish my relationships with loved ones and friends at a deeper level, to think and say negative things less and to share more. I'm not classifying these self-expectations as resolutions since I'm horrible about following through on those, I'm just making these promises to myself not only for this year, but for my entire future.

Triumphs and trials will always be part of the mix, but my reaction to them will be the true test of my progress. There is so much to learn and focus on. I'm looking forward to figuring out how to navigate through all this life will bring.
